May Monthly Gathering: Sunday at Qualicum Memorial Golf Course

Hi All,

The Monthly Gathering date and location has changed.

We are on our way to the Qualicum Memorial Golf Course this Sunday, May 5th. We have a reservation for 11:00 am.

Since the weather forecast is good, the plan is to ride Highway 1 on the way up and then take advantage of the back roads on the way back, exploring roads less frequented and stopping at a couple of locations like the Little Qualicum Cheese works.

For the restaurant, we need to give firm numbers by Friday, so please let me know if you are going to be there. RSVP by Thursday evening, May 2nd.

If you want to ride with others on the way up, please meet at the usual Tim Hortons at Millstream by 8:45 am and we’ll start sending packets at about 9:00 am.

Thanks to Ernie Reigle for organizing this. There is a breakfast buffet as well as à la carte. The buffet costs $11.95, including coffee and consists of:

Fruit, muffins, Greek Yogurt Eggs benny scrambled eggs bacon sausages french toast pancakes omelettes and waffles (made to order)

Regards,

Bob

Motorcycle Safety Training: StreetSmart Rider Perception

StreetSmart – Rider Perception

Motorcycle riding requires a lot more than coordination and balance. It requires a keen perceptive ability that helps a rider see and evaluate all the important clues to respond effectively in traffic. Poor perception puts a rider at a disadvantage. Our Safety session on “Rider Perception” will be held on Sunday afternoon, 24 February, 2013 starting at 1:00 PM. The training will take place at the Greenglade Community Centre at 2151 Lannon Way Sidney, BC.

Check this link for directions http://www.crd.bc.ca/panorama/greenglade.htm.

The goal of the session is to acquaint participants will the important aspects of visual perception, and how the brain and eyes work together to manage risk. The program is an interactive and fun session, not a boring lecture. The session is planned for an hour and a half. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

In order to prepare enough handouts and determine, please register by return email or by calling Bob Leitch before 19 Feb 2013. Note that there will be a $5.00 charge to cover the cost of the supplies, refreshments, and room rental.

Regards,

Bob

Please send your support to Michael Gye

Accident!

We're sorry to report that Michael Gye had a pretty serious accident on his new Honda 1200 VFR automatic. He got pretty shaken up, broke a few bones, but his life was saved by a good riding suit. The bike was destroyed.

Michael is still in hospital and making good recovery. His spirits are up again despite having a long recovery ahead of him.

He has an iThingie and can receive mails, I'm sure he'd appreciate support - click on this link to send an e-mail of support.

Thanks!
