Next Summer Rides

The great riding weather continues and we are looking to take advantage of it.  

Victoria to Sooke, July 20

On Sunday, July 20, we are on our way to the BW Prestige Oceanfront Resort in Sooke.  We will meet at the Tim Hortons in the Home Sense Plaza located off Millstream Road and McCallum Road at 8:15 AM for an 8:30 departure.  In packets of 5 – 6 riders, we’ll wind our way through the Highlands, across Esquimalt Lagoon, out through East Sooke to the BW Prestige Oceanfront Resort for a buffet brunch.  If you plan to come, please let me know by Thursday evening so I can reserve the correct number of seats.

Port McNeill, August 2-4

Two weekends after the Sooke brunch, we will be on our way to Port McNeill.  I currently show 12 riders having said they would attend and I know that there have been six reservations made at the Black Bear and Port McNeill Inn.  If you have not made arrangements, accommodation is an issue.  In addition to ourselves the Porsche Auto Club will apparently be in Port McNeill that weekend as well.  So if you do not already have a place to stay, your should see about reservations before you ride north.  For those who have accommodations, could you let me know if you have a spare bed in your room or are willing to add a cot and we may be able to handle a few more.  Those who need accommodation, let me know and we’ll see if we can pair you up with another club member.  I have attached the outline for the weekend for everyone’s information.

Two great June Rides

Two great rides this month Qualicum Beach and Lillooet

Qualicum Beach  - June 7

For Qualicum Beach, Victoria riders will leave the Timmy’s on Millstream by 8:45 AM on Sat 7 June 2014.

A slab ride up the TC will get us there for the 11:00opening and brunch at the Shady Rest Restaurant on the Old Island Highway.  Take the time to talk with your fellow riders and learn about some new roads to ride on the way home – Cedar Point or Nanaimo Lakes Road for example.  I’m sure some of the members from “up Island” can let us know about others. 

For those who will be joining the Victoria Riders along the way, please let me know and we’ll see about some meeting places, say Duncan and Nanaimo for example.  If you are planning to attend the Brunch, please let me know by Thursday evening 5 June so we can let the Restaurant know the proper numbers.

Duffey Lake Loop - June 14 & 15

For those planning to do the Duffy Lake loop, Harvey Jenkins has volunteered to organize the ride.  Thanks Harvey.  Here’s the plan so far:

Those in Victoria and vicinity can meet at 8:30 for an 8:40 departure for the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal and the 10:40 sailing to Horseshoe Bay. Up the Sea to Sky for a later lunch in Pemberton, at BigSky Golf course, with beautiful view of Mount Currie.  After lunch, ride the Duffy Lake route to Lillooet.

There are a number of Hotels/Motels available.  Just look on the web for  Bookings.com or Expedia for the best deals. Saturday evening sees some socializing and dinner at Dina's Place, a Greek Restaurant.

Numerous options for the ride home. We can leave that open to the individuals and decide Saturday evening.

If you are planning to do the Duffey Lake loop, please let me know by Thursday 12 June so we can confirm with the restaurant.
